Today I was trying to remember when painted buntings began visiting my garden for the nesting season - and I found this blog post from 2006 that said I'd been seeing them regularly for three years.
So it's been ten years now.
This year was special though, because it was the first time I've seen one of their offspring - and for the past week the male PABU has been showing up at the feeder with a young one. He would go to the feeder (filled with white millet), get a piece, and feed it to his offspring. It's been fun to watch - and I was able to take a few photos through a window.
I think these are the sweetest pictures of such gorgeous birds!
