This evening - as a front was moving across South Carolina and as I was driving home from the laboratory - I saw five different rainbows. I was driving through several different showers, and each of them had a rainbow on it's edge - all separate, all a bit different.
I was talking to my brother this evening and he said that the one good thing about the latest economic crisis is that it brought the candidates back to discussing issues.
About 15 minutes after I arrived home - an advancing storm brought the garden inches of rain, and left the Wild Dog a bit less wild, as she climbed on my lap as the thunder and lightning was directly overhead and the electricity went off. I learned something new about her tonight: storms frighten her.
Palin's conservatism and inexperience frightens me.
The first true cold ('cool') front that moves through in September is always welcomed by those of us who have braved the heat and humidity of August and early September in the south. Tonight I find myself thinking about dividing those perennials, cleaning out the vegetable garden - sitting on the deck in the evening. The week ahead is predicted to have highs in the upper 70s/low 80s and night-time lows that might reach the mid-60s. Heaven.
There's 49 days left until the election.
