The mountain laurel is blooming like crazy on the edges of my parent's garden in central Virginia. I'm not sure that I've been here in awhile when they were in full bloom - or when I was, I'm not sure that I paid close enough attention to an individual flower amongst a cluster of flowers. They're fascinating I think.
It's tough being back. It's difficult to walk in my Mother's garden, without her walking with me, telling me something about 'this' plant or 'that' one. My Mother and I had many of the difficulties that a Mother and daughter often have - but in the garden, we were always perfectly comfortable with each other, always on the same page. It was, quite literally, our common ground.
That's a beautiful flower, like a sand dollar. I'm glad you're still sharing your mom with us through her garden.
