The County Clerk

I bet the dogs had a ball.

It isnt good that YOU were so traumatized. But there are two particularly happy dogs in South Carolina tonight.

Thanks for telling the ending in the middle. Wild Dog needs to know who the pack leader is!

I'm glad to know that the sweet Wild Dog is home safe, and cashed out for the evening. I know of what you speak, as my Coco is a bolter, too. The one time I let her swim in the pond at the river without keeping the extended leash on her, she swam out the back, was over the hill and through the field next door before we knew what happened.

I guess I'm a bad disciplinarian, too, because I really think that some dogs are just predisposed to being bolters. And that as long as they walk decently on leash at the important times... well, the rest of the tugging is just a good arm workout. :)

Isn't it interesting what we see in pictures, by the way? My first thought when I saw the black and white palm root ball photo was, "Ooh... someone found a nest of stinging insects..."

Oh my, I know that sick feeling of watching a beloved dog bolt off without a backward glance. It is truly terrifying. I am glad you said all was well with the Wild Dog right away.

My dog and I went for training seven years ago. We do fine, except if he's off leash in the park and sees a rabbit. Consequently, I don't leave him off the least except in winter when there is no one around (and the rabbits aren't bounding about in -30 temperatures). I've tried working with him on this, but I haven't had much luck. I hope you have more luck with WD!

I love the photograph of the palm tree root ball.
