The season's first tomato: Lycopersicon esculentum 'Sun Gold'.
Just like last year.

Pam, yours are later than last year, and ours were earlier. We haven't planted any yellow ones, but your recommendation and the 'glamour shot' are making me think about one for next season.

I planted my tomatoes yesterday. Sigh.

I assume it tasted as good as it looks!

Annie: I hadn't thought of it as a 'glamour shot', but I suppose it is! Sungold is really one to try - their flavor is amazing, and it's quite prolific.
EH: When you are harvesting your tomatoes, my plants will most likely be a thing of the past - I'll be needing to enjoy yours then.
Carol: Yes, as soon as the photo was captured, it was devoured...and quickly!

Mmmm. 'Sungold' is one of my favorites.
We saw our first tomato, a 'Black Krim' turning color on Tuesday and covered the plants with bird-netting. But something got under the net and stole one of the ripening ones yesterday. I picked the other one even though it was still a bit green.
Annie's tomatoes might be earlier than usual this year but mine are later. We live only about 12 miles apart.

MSS: I think the sungolds are just delicious, and there also really productive. Luckily, I don't have many tomatoes thieves - it sounds like you need to spend the season protecting yours!
