Funny name, fabulous blossom...you just have to wonder about the evolution behind that petal design.

Pat: Their common name is African Daisy, and the name refers to osteon (=bone) and spermum (=seed) according to Wikipedia. I thought it was a funny name too. I try to avoid annuals, but have trouble saying no to one or two of these each year. I'm not sure about the petal design on this - there are several cultivars with the 'spoons' in this genus - 'Pink Whirly' (or something like that) is one of the more popular ones.
