Today's morning walk revealed that my Climbing Cecile Brunner which is a polyantha rose (cross between the china roses and the Japanese Multiflora rose) is starting to bloom. The first one is opening up - and it should be followed by a couple of hundred blooms over the next week or two. It's a wonderful antique rose, not very susceptible to disease - blooms heavily in the spring and older plants bloom a second time (less heavily) in the fall. You just can't beat it.
