A friend commented recently, after I posted an image of swiss chard that I had harvested from my garden - that I needed to start a business photographing celebrity chard. It was one of those silly things that makes you laugh - and that, of course, one can't let go. So I took some swiss chard to an artist friend's gallery - and took this photograph of my swiss chard on one of his (stunning) platters.
It is rather lovely swiss chard, isn't it?
But this will have to be the end of my celebrity chard photography business. (That said, whose swiss chard would you like to photograph?)
Lyle Lovett's, I think. I can't see him really understanding why I was there, but he seems like he'd be super nice and accommodating about it anyway.
(Second choice: Tina Fey. Just 'cause.)

I like Lyle Lovett (answer above) or maybe his college roommate, Robert Earl Keen. Oh I could name lots of folks. Do you know Shovels and Rope? They are a Charleston group. LOVE them!!

I'm guessing that Lyle Lovett would grow some really interesting chard (and be nice about it)... and Janet, I'm with you on Robert Earl Keen (from seeing all of the concerts you go to, I've learned that we have similar musical tastes). I do know Shovels and Rope - really like them! You would love a place a few miles north of me along Highway 17 - Awendaw Green (check out their website). They have barn jams every Wednesday night with three or four musicians and it's always good. The guy who started it (a local dentist) works insanely hard to support local musicians. It's a really fun venue (outside, under live oaks).

Well that is, in fact, some very fine celebrity Swiss chard. And it's the photo that launched a movement (a very small movement, but still, a movement). I've just written about celebrity crop portraiture here, here and here (http://bit.ly/X4yyQG, http://bit.ly/Ue2o5z and http://bit.ly/12KoonQ). That last link looks at a photo by Jenks Farmer, who's a professional horticulturalist from Columbia, South Carolina.

Swiss chard is a vegetable that is often overlooked. It is worth a try, however. Well, i liked your photography, great job done!
