The camellias continue to bloom - while to the north, everyone and everything seems covered in ice and snow. We've been unusually gloomy here - erratic temperatures, clouds and fog - heavy, heavy fog. I'd best not complain: my brother oftens reads this, and he lives in northern Vermont. Our worst days still sound like spring to him.

Meetings, another meeting, conference call. Emails. A typical day?

Everyone's talking about the 'stimulus package'. Everyone's getting their lists together. Maybe I'll be optimistic and put together a list of camellias from Camellia Forest Nusery that I want...I mean, who knows?
-
‘Mieko Tanaka’: a gorgeous true red, a single, blooms from October through to March. (C. X vernalis ‘Gaisen’ X C. japonica)
-
'Scented Snow': early bloomer, white anemone form. (C. sasanqua ‘Northern Lights’ X C. x ‘Snow Flurry’)
-
‘Tama-no-ura’: Just because. I mean, discovered in the wild by a charcoal burner? Can you resist that?
-
‘Unryu-tsubaki’: Who can resist a 45 degree angle at every node? (Certainly not me).

I know, I'll just head out one day to my favorite camellia-growing octogenarian's place and enjoy his hundreds of camellias. That's should do me, just in case my camellia-purchasing funds aren't included in the stimulus package.
I know, it's been a long day.
I love your Camellias. Have been enjoying reading some of your recent blogs. I want to find out more about the Unryu-tsubaki, very interesting. Janet

I will hope to walk along with you in the camellia garden! I am not sure why they were not included in the stimulus package as everything else under the sun seems to be and they are food for the soul.

Thanks Janet - and I'm glad you stopped by. I'm pretty fascinated by Unryu-tsubaki as well - I might order that one and the first one I listed - 'Meiko Tanaka'.
Layanee - I do need to head out to my camellia growing friend's home and check out his camellias. I went just before the holidays, and need to go again - I have 17 camellias in my garden (or something like that) - he has about 600! Perhaps I should write my congressman about including camellias in the South Carolina request?

That picture is so beautiful.

Hey Joan, thank you. It's one of my favorite camellias, the second one that I added to my garden - and I haven't a clue what it's name is. I got it from Pete's dad years ago. Sometimes it looks white - and sometimes it looks a pale, pale pink - the image doesn't really do it justice.
